Our Roots

In 1953, 10 Pi Phis in Sonoma, California, began forming an alumnae club they hoped to name Valley of the Moon, inspired by Jack London’s beloved phrase. While Grand Council initially recommended naming the club after Sonoma County, the women remained steadfast in their vision, and on August 17, 2003, Valley of the Moon club members and guests celebrated 50 years of Pi Phi friendship.
