Our Roots

A local group of women formed in 1945 and officially became the New Mexico Alpha Chapter in 1946 after installation by past Grand President Amy Burnham Onken, Illinois Epsilon. The chapter was established through the influence of the Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alumnae Club, which had been working toward a chapter since its own founding in 1927. The Initiation Ceremony took place at the Y.W.C.A., and the installation banquet was held in the Coronado Room of the Alvarado Hotel with the theme “Flight on the Arrow-Line."

Supporting Sisters’ Dreams

Chapter-specific scholarship funds support collegiate chapter members as they pursue their academic dreams and professional goals. By giving to a scholarship fund, donors can directly impact their own chapter sisters and open doors that might not have been possible otherwise.
