Our Roots
Throughout the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Club’s history, the club has adapted to the changing needs and interests of its members, from informal gatherings of working women in the 1940s to the creation of a Junior Club in 1964 for recent graduates. As membership grew and shifted geographically, the club evolved as well, changing its name in 1970 to include Johnson County members and again in 2013 to reflect its broader Greater Kansas City identity. Alongside this growth, the club has maintained a strong tradition of leadership within the Fraternity, with many members serving as international officers since 1927. It has also remained deeply committed to service, beginning with its first philanthropic effort in 1918 and continuing through major Fraternity initiatives such as its role as a lead fundraiser for the $50,000 Endowment Fund, where it became the largest contributor upon completion in 1939.
